HEy Fam,
How's the fam doin'? Hope you all are doing well. Wow! up to week THREE OOOHHH (30) and time is cruzin'! I'm doing great, just got back from a day at the zoo! It was great. My computer is broken at the moment, so I can't load up the pictures, but I'm gonna try and attach them before I send this. But yeah, it was a relaxed p- day, only 1 call from the missionaries = grrrrrrrrrrreattttt!
The work this week was so so~ we've had some trouble getting people to the capilla for church, so our investigators haven't been able to progress, but should be soon! By name, Gaspar didn't go to church, we're still working on him, and the Canul family is just hangin' tight, not progressing, which is a little frustrating. but little by little, they'll come back. Magdalina had her birthday this week, an investigator potente, so we bought her a princess piƱata and candy for her and her kids/grandkids to do! Ha! it was fun. I'll send pics later. Jose , who got baptized last week, is just doing great. I didn't talk much about his baptism, it was awesome. We sang a special number- first just me in English then with the other secretaries in Spanish, and then the crowd starting singing-- it was sweeeeeeet. After he was baptized, he came back and sat next to me and said, ¨Soy nuevo¨. or just ¨I'm new!¨ haha fue poderoso!
So the offices were interesting this week, we had a bunch of missionaries come last week that finally got their visas. After getting all their houses settled with their materials and stuff, we had one kid that was struggling a bit from day one. He stayed in the offices a few days, so I talked to him alot--I am the only secretary that speaks English, and I felt like that was my job this week, try and keep him in the mission. But despite all I could say, persuade, and do, he still went home yesterday. It was a bummer. The first day the newbies got here, president dropped them off at the offices to stay the night, like he did with me the first day, then left, but before he left, he turned to everyone in the front room and said, with his pointer finger out, and in Spanish accented English, ¨We need you¨, in a plead. It made me sooo sad to see this kid go--I pleaded with him, ¨You can't go man!~ we need every able, worthy, and ready young man we've got! Please don't go.¨
Last week, when we were closing a house that the missionaries rented, we ran into the bishop of another ward and his wife and kid taking a walk. Getting to know them, I came to find out that missionaries had been in their ward about 2.5 years ago but the missionaries had done something bad, and from that point on they hadn't had missionaries since, families left the ward and are inactive and the ward is just struggling-- all because of what the missionaries did. It was rough to see as the bishop's wife told us with tears streaming down her face. Missionaries can either be SUCH a blessing, or can destroy a ward~ it was really sad. It made me realize the impact I could have on my assigned ward. BE THE BLESSING, ELDER CONNOLLY!!!
I'm running out of time, I'm out. love you all! peace out!
