1. requests for birthday gifts?
I cant think of anything right now. I am enjoying my package of reese's pieces and cadbury eggs and my new pj's, suppper light! Thank you! I already have my presents for my birthday with me in my luggage that I am waiting to open: new underwear...and new socks...and new white shirts ha! YAHHOOO.... SWEEEEET!!!! I am sooo excited! (for real). Also, I'm gonna buy more pants mom-- I only have 2 right now (**I just went and asked my fellow secretaries here in the offices what I should ask for, they all said money on the card for LOS TROMPOS, a restaurant here that we go to often, wayyyyyyyy goooooood. Tha'ts all i can think up right now) OH wait, I do have a request, mom I'll send you a separate email.
And about the package real quick, that talk by the Carlsons. wow! It made me cry~ ha! i hadn't cried since my 1st transfer and I couldn't believe it. I read it again and cried again. Then it was weird, I kinda felt like crying again, so i read it again, and cried again~~ hahaha! It makes me so happy, go Carlsons! I didn't know any of that story, only the end from that glorious letter from Elder Carlson in December. So sweet. SIGAN ADALANTE!
2. Send something for East High Elders--fav part of conference....
ohhh yeah, I'll do it.
WEll fam, how have you all been? Where to start.... well, Mom, I'll start with a funny story. Sooooo remember that miltary sealed salmon you sent me back in like September?? Well, I've had it all this time haha, and about 2 weeks ago, I had an idea. After the weekly meeting with Pres and his wife, I went and grabbed it, and presented it to Hermana Salinas, wife of pres,so that she could cook it and we could have a office dinner or something. It was going to be the only way I would get myself to cook it haha. Well, the next week, the announcement came out that we would have the lunch this last Thursday! So, we had a lunch with the secretaries and the assistants and the Pres and his family at their house. WOW it was soooo good~ the only thing, we didn't eat the salmon! haha. It's what started it all, but we didn't eat it! We had steak, german sausage and chicken, with cheesey tortillas. It was amazing. but the Hermana Salinas said that we would still eat the salmon, there was just not enough for everyone for the big lunch, so she is going to make tortas one morning and take them over to the offices for a brunch ha, I'm down :)
So on Monday, there was a big storm here~ it was pretty cool. We were on our way to the district meeting from our area and we got of the bus when it started to rain so hard and we we ran into a bakery about half a block from where we got off the bus for shelter and there we stayed for about 40 minutes waiting out the storm, eating some rice pudding and creme brule with the 2 panaderas, 2 lady bakers, with no electricity hahaha. It was a memory. Then we just went back to the offices to change anddry off and clean up what the storm left. We didn't have electricity that night and our internet box blew up so we couldn't really work here for a few days, and we also spent 1 morning just cleaning up outside because it left a mess. But we{re all back in order now.
The work, we had a so so week. As far as conference was, we had alot of investigators go, I think 8. We did end up taking the family Dominguez, that lady I talked about last week, just Mirsa, the mom and her 2 kids, but it was awesome. they loved it. They{ll be coming to church again this week~ the only thing is it was hard to find them this week to teach them. Everytime we passed by she was cutting hair ha!, so we passed the next day, same story. But we did find a space for 1 lesson. This fam is awesome, I actually am anxious to meet the husband~ he's chill but she told us that he is slightly atheist, which in my opinion is better than hard catholic ha. We'll see. The goal is the familia compeleta! Also we have another investigator named Abinadi, his cousins and extended family are members, but his family isn't. His mom just loved the Book of Mormon name Abinadi, so she named him that, but wasn't a member. Actually she has passed away about 5 years ago, so that's been a focal point with Abinadi, that he can see her again. He is 21 years old, a big kid that looks intimidating, but hes like a big teddy bear ha! He's a stud. Also we have Irma and Isacc, her grandson. Irma´s daughter just got back from a mission. She was baptized 3 years ago, only person in her family to get baptized, and served a mission. So we've been working with her family. She loved conference, went Saturday and wanted to go back for Sunday. we'll see what happens this week. a Also we had a new guy, Johnny~ his wife is member, but he isn't. He's bien potente, we hope to see him get baptized soon, then 1 year get sealed in the temple! They have a new baby about 4 months old, that is really cute but we know that it has problems, of what I am not sure, but problems physically. I think its what softened the heart of the husband to listen. Also we have a 17 year old kid named Marco, that we kinda forgot about until yesterday for a few weeks, had lesson with him and he's awesome, so hes a prospect too ha. and also great news, we had an unexpected surprise, remember the family Canul? Well, they went to conference and we had a powerful lesson with the husband, German, and he finally feels ready to get baptized, finallllllly! More info next week.....
Conference finished up great, there were so many great talks. we enjoyed it here. Spanish for preisthood session and Sunday at the stake center and English the first 2 sessions. really quick, I forgot! We showed up for priesthood session at 6pm on Satuday night, to find our convert Jose Romero, already there. We go up and sit by him, come to find out he has been there since 10 in the morning for the first 2 sessions, showed up all by himself, took his own food for the whole day for lunch and dinner, until the end of the Preisthood session at 8! Haha he is a wonder, literally golden convert, and he has more faith that I do! Well I'm running close to the hour computer time I have~ I gotta go.
