Elder Connolly in Mexico Letter #44

Hola Familia!

Happy Fathers day to every father out there! I don't know how far this email makes it but best withes from Elder Connolly in Mexico! Thanks for the various reminders Mamá Joan;)

So what else is new? Hey cool story about the basketball star that is LDS, I hope he goes to BYU haha. and when will Todd make the front cover of the Sports Illustrated? I think the Afro alone would sell it! haha. Thanks for forwarding that. So it was a busy week, it was transfers week and there were various changes in the offices, the couple did arrive, it has been interesting to situate everything now, we´re no longer just 20 year old boys running it, there are 60 year olds with us, apart from being 60, we now have a women in our presence always, something to get used to ;)....again. haha. Just small things like always having toilet paper in the bathrooms has been a challenge, but we´re workin'  through the kinks ;) haha.

I do love having our married couple around. Elder Vazquez is such a great guy. They are converts of about (I'm guessing) 30 years, and have already been mission presidents in Argentina. They have also been counselors to mission presidents various times in Mexico City and this time they are just plain "Elder" and "Hermana" Vazquez, normal missionaries. They have alot of experience and are so friendly. Elder Vazquez always makes the joke  about how tall I am and when we take pictures together he comments that we have to find a bucket to put on the ground or he can stand on the stairs or a ledge so he can stand on it so he doesn't look so short standing next to me haha. I'm really excited for this transfer specifically for the chance to get to know them better. They are verrrry slow in the office however haha, they´re training is coming along but it will take them awhile to get up the speed that the younger elders can do them at, because most of the things we do are on the computer. Elder Suarez is still here teaching the Sister how to register the baptisms and stuff like that~ he should have already been in his new area since Monday! He is going to Cancun and his companion is working with a priest from his new ward until he gets there! I have now moved all my stuff to the offices, which is nice!  I can now enjoy living in 1 house, literally a blessing! Elder Saurez and I were the only 2 elders in the mission that had that! We had to rearrange the desks and computers a bit, Elder Gibbs brought all his stuff into my room and and we put the other desk in with the Secretary of Finances, which will be Elder Vazquez, so that they can be together and we can be together. By the way, Elder Gibbs in my new companion, but we are going to have a 3 some with Elder Amador, that will be with us this whole transfer because he has to train Elder Vazquez how to be the finaciero. Oh and also, President has assigned us only to Aeropuerto, so we won't have the other wards like I thought, which is good. And since Elder Suarez has been here with us, we have had 4 missionaries working in Aeropuerto, so we have been able to visit alot more people lately.

The work this week: first off it was a cool meeting Sunday, because it was Stake conference and a Seventy came and talked. Also President Salinas also talked. It was soooo awesome. We had several investigators in the church too, which was great. Jonni went with his wife alone to the Saturday night session, he's getting closer and closer! Also Irma is doing good. and Herman Canul, who got baptized a month ago, got the preisthood on Sunday, I think by the Seventy. it was wayy cool! and Jose Romero is getting the Melchezedik Preisthood these coming weeks. It's sooo cool! I freaking love these guys that are stepping up! It's so great to see the change. Its toooo sweeeeet.
